Not the same.

Story

Mono means one and the same. notmono makes what is not the same: solid wood furniture whose grain, joins and tone turn out unique on every piece.

Beginning

Around a table.

In a home, most things happen around a table. The morning coffee goes cold there, a book stays open there, and when guests arrive the conversation gathers there. That is why notmono began with a table: a piece that sits close to the floor, is touched every day and stays in the same place for years. We felt a piece like that should be real wood, with its grain, its weight and a tone that changes with time.

Form

Forms taken from nature.

A stone rounded by water, the hollow of a tree, a line stretching to the horizon. Our pieces take their names and their shapes from there. We soften the corner, think of the leg as a sculpture, and take away what is not needed.

Material

100% solid wood.

Not veneer, not MDF, not particleboard. Every piece is solid wood through and through, finished in a walnut tone with a matte surface. Solid wood is a living material: grain, knots and tone fall differently on each piece, so no two are ever exactly alike.

Making

In our own workshop.

Every piece is made in our own workshop, from cutting to finishing, under one roof. Because we make it ourselves, size and tone can change to fit the space, whether a living room at home or a hotel lobby.

Saplings

Taken from nature, given back to nature.

For every notmono piece, we donate a sapling. Its certificate arrives with your piece.

Real wood is never the same.
